LONDON: Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock has resigned in the aftermath of a video showing him breaking social distancing rules whilst kissing senior aide Gina Coladangelo.

In a video released on Twitter, Matt Hancock said: “Those of us who make these rules have got to stick by them and that’s why I’ve got to resign.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Boris Johnson accepted Matt Hancock’s apology and considered the matter closed whilst not demanding the Health Secretary’s resignation.
However, after immense pressure from various quarters, Matt Hancock has resigned from his post.

Commenting on the development, Aditya Chakrabortty said: “Quits because of what’s in tomorrow’s papers rather than because of his role in 150,000 deaths, allowing Covid to rip through care homes, nurses wearing binbags, handing contracts to his mate the pub landlord. Shameless.”
