Twitter banned Steve Bannon’s account for inciting violence towards Dr Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and the FBI director, Christopher Wray. Steve Bannon, former Donald Trump adviser and chief strategist called for Fauci’s and Wray’s beheading and exhibiting their severed heads outside the White House.

According to Twitter, Bannon’s podcast account, @WarRoomPandemic , was suspended permanently for violating its policy regarding “glorification of violence.” The video in which Bannon is seen endorsing violence against Wray and the US’s most senior infectious diseases expert was posted on other platforms, such as Facebook and Youtube, as well. The video has since been removed from both the aforementioned platforms.

A representative for Youtube said: “We’ve removed this video for violating our policy against inciting violence. We will continue to be vigilant as we enforce our policies in the post-election period.”

In the video, the far-right provocateur said: “Second term kicks off with firing Wray, firing Fauci … no I actually want to go a step farther but the president is a kind-hearted man and a good man.”

He continued: “I’d actually like to go back to the old times of Tudor England. I’d put their heads on pikes, right, I’d put them at the two corners of the White House as a warning to federal bureaucrats, you either get with the programme or you’re gone.”

As tensions have been rising during this week’s US election, there is growing concern over the risk of violence, amid dangerously seditious rhetoric from Trump and his campaign, who have wrongly asserted that the Democrats are attempting to “steal the election”.

One post, shared by the Center for Countering Digital Hate, declared: “Neither side is going to concede. Time to clean the guns, time to hit the streets.”

On a show on Fox News, Newt Gingrich, the former Republican House speaker, appeared to call for the arrest of election workers in Pennsylvania. Parroting Trump’s bogus complaints of election rigging, he said: “My hope is that President Trump will lead the millions of Americans who understand exactly what’s going on.”

He followed that up with alleging that election workers were somehow involved in trying to get Biden elected.

“The Philadelphia machine is corrupt. The Atlanta machine is corrupt. The machine in Detroit is corrupt. And they are trying to steal the presidency. And we should not allow them to do that,” he said.

“First of all, under federal law, we should lock up the people who are breaking the law,” he continued. “You stop somebody from being an observer, you just broke federal law. Do you hide and put up papers so nobody can see what you’re doing? You just broke federal law. You bring in ballots that aren’t real? You just broke federal law.”
