Senior Taliban leader meets German envoy, discusses Afghanistan situation

DOHA: The deputy director of the Taliban’s political office, Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, met with the German Ambassador to Afghanistan, Markus Potzel in Doha on Friday.

Suhail Shaheen, a member of the Taliban’s political office in Doha and the group’s spokesperson for English media, informed about the development. He said that both sides discussed the ongoing situation of the country, rehabilitation of the Airport and issues related to economic development and humanitarian assistance.

The German delegation emphasized boosting and continuing their humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan which was appreciated by the PO delegation, said Suhail Shaheen.

Yesterday, Sher Muhammad Abbas Stanikzai met with Simon Gass, Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of the UK and his delegation in Doha. Humanitarian assistance, political and security topics, as well as mutual relations, came under discussion.

The UK delegation reiterated that they had already increased their humanitarian assistance and was ready to cooperate with IEA in future as well. The PO delegation welcomed their humanitarian assistance.
