Pakistan’s intelligence chief arrives in Kabul for talks with Taliban

ISLAMABAD/KABUL: The Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lt Gen Faiz Hameed arrived in Kabul this morning leading a Pakistani delegation for meetings with the Taliban on the future of Pakistan and Afghanistan ties.

Senior journalist Kamran Khan tweeted: “ISI Chief Lt Gen Faiz Hamid arrived Kabul this morning leading delegation of senior Pakistani officials. Gen Faiz is highest-ranking foreign official to reach Kabul on invitation of Taliban Shura. Issues to discuss immediate future of Pak Taliban security economic trade ties.”

Lt Gen Faiz Hameed is the highest ranking foreign official to be invited by the Taliban in Afghanistan so far.
