WASHINGTON/KABUL: US President Joe Biden has warned that another attack on Kabul Airport is highly likely with senior US military commanders informing the President that the attack could occur as early as today (Sunday).

The US State Department has asked all American citizens to evacuate the area near Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport due to a “specific, credible threat”.

On Thursday, a bomb attack in Kabul Airport resulted in the loss of 170 lives, including at least 12 US troops and 2 British nationals. The responsibility for the bombing was taken by the Islamic State.

Yesterday, the US conducted a drone strike in Nangahar killing at least 2 Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) planners.

The UK has moved all troops, officials and diplomats outside Afghanistan but the US is still continuing evacuations.

“This strike was not the last. We will continue to hunt down any person involved in that heinous attack and make them pay,” Joe Biden said after the drone strike.
