Democratic candidate Joe Biden has clinched more votes than any presidential candidate in the US history during this election 2020.

According to the Independent, it was former president Barack Obama who had claimed the record in 2008 with 69.4 million votes.

The reason behind the splendid uptick for Biden could be the high voter turnout this time, which is being hailed as the largest in the century.

The Democrat has broken Obama’s record by gaining more than 72 million votes this year in the elections.

According to an estimate, more than 102 million people voted before the election day, November 3.

Currently, Biden leads the race with 263 electoral votes or roughly more thaan 50% of all the votes counted so far. In comparison, Trump is trudging along with 48%.

It is pertinent to mention that Nevada, Pennsylvania and Georgia are the states that could prove to be the gamechanger as the world patiently awaits to see whether the popularity of Joe Biden will translate into an overall electoral college victory or not.
