8 killed after student opens fire in Russian University Campus

MOSCOW: A student opened fire on a university in Russia’s city of Perm on Monday killing at least eight people.

According to the details, Russia’s Investigative Committee said six people were also injured in the attack and that the suspect had been wounded while being detained.

Footage from the scene shows a person holding a weapon outside the university, who was later detained by police.

Meanwhile, Students jumped from first-floor windows to escape the building and landed heavily on the ground before running to safety.

On the other hand, students in the university’s auditorium were told to stay where they were and ‘shield’ while the incident was ongoing, and others were evacuated from campus.

According to sources, the gunman had been identified as a student at the university.

Perm University, around 800 miles east of Moscow, is known for its medical excellence and is one of the oldest universities in Russia.
